Team Notes
1. The Illini rushed for 318 yards against the Bulldogs, the seventh time in 12 games that Illinois has topped the 200-yard mark and fourth that is has broken the 300-yard barrier this season.
2. Illinois posted one of its best drives of the season to start the third quarter. The Illini scored a touchdown on a 17-play, 92-yard drive that lasted 8:04. That ties the longest drive of the season by plays (also vs. Missouri) and tops the previous best in terms of distance (90 vs. both SIU and Indiana).
Individual Notes
1. Junior RB Mikel Leshoure topped the 1,500-yard mark for the season with his 142 yards, becoming only the second player in Illinois history to gain more than 1,500 rushing yards in a season. He now has 1,513 yards this season, 170 yards short of Rashard Mendenhall's single-season record 1,681.
2. Leshoure ran for one touchdown on the night, giving him 14 rushing TDs and 17 overall TDs, totals that rank third and second, respectively, on the UI single-season touchdown lists.
3. Leshoure's 142-yard performance gives him eight 100-yard games this season, tying Rashard Mendenhall's school record. He now has 11 career 100-yard games, third most in school history.
4. Leshoure and redshirt-freshman QB Nathan Scheelhaase both rushed for over 100 yards, with Leshoure gaining 142 and Scheelhaase rushing for 131. It is the third time this season that the duo have both run for over 100 yards in the same game (also vs. NIU, Michigan) and the first time in school history that Illinois has had three 100-yard rushing duos in the same season.
5. Scheelhaase also broke Juice Williams' record for rushing yards by a quarterback in a season, as he now has 815 rushing yards this year, topping Williams' 755 rushing yards in 2007.
6. Scheelhaase's 131 yards tonight ranks as the fifth-best single-game rushing performance by a quarterback in Illinois history. He now has three of the top 10 single-game in school history.
7. Junior RB Jason Ford carried the ball six times for 50 yards tonight, pushing him over 1,300 career yards on the ground. He finished the game with 1,308 yards, moving him from 28th to 25th on the Illinois career rushing list.
8. Junior WR A.J. Jenkins had six catches for 75 yards and one touchdown. Jenkins now has seven touchdown receptions on the season, which ranks eighth on the Illinois single-season TD catches list.
