Illini Set to Begin Outdoor Season

The Fighting Illini women's track and field team are set to begin their outdoor season as they travel to Ft. Worth, Texas to compete in the Horned Frog Invitational at the Lowdon Track & Field Complex on Saturday, March 24, beginning at noon. Teams in attendance will be TCU, Texas-Arlington, North Texas and Illinois.

The Illini took some time off before entering outdoor season as the last time they competed was at the NCAA Championships where Senior Yvonne Mensah competed in triple jump and posted a mark of 41'05.75", taking 14th-place. At last year's NCAA Indoor Championships, Mensah earned All-America status in triple jump, placing eighth with a mark of 43'03.75". Also, the 4x400m relay team, comprised of sophomore Omoye Ugiagbe and seniors Camile Robinson, Carlene Robinson and Mensah ran a 3:37.94 to place 11th overall. This group also holds the Illinois school record indoors with a 3:35.34.
