The Fighting Illini women's tennis team continued its hot streak with a 7-0 victory over Louisville today at the Atkins Tennis Center. The Illini came out of the gate hot in doubles and were able to carry that momentum over into the singles competition.

We had that intensity that we need to be successful," said Illini Head Coach Sujay Lama. We worked all week on being focused and having that killer instinct. Today I thought we did a better job in achieving those two goals."

The Illini were victorious in all nine matches that were played. Freshman Jennifer McGaffigan continued to impress by cruising to a 6-0 6-0 victory over Julie Penn at No. 2. Sophomore Michelle Webb also had a flawless victory in the singles competition. Senior Carla Rosenberg returned from a neck injury to win in impressive fashion 6-2,6-0, over Paige Eber.

"We were ready to play today," said Rosenberg. "We were able to keep our focus and that, in turn, kept our intesity high."

The Illini will return to action tomorrow when No. 17 Tennessee comes to town. The match will be at Noon in the Atkins Tennis Center.
