TROPHY CLUB, Texas – The Fighting Illini are headed to Texas to open the 2026-27 season at The Bruzzy presented by Ashley Herrera at Trophy Club Country Club. The tournament will be held from Tuesday-Wednesday, Sept. 8-9.
THE SETTING
The Bruzzy will be hosted by North Texas at the Trophy Club Country Club in Trophy Club, Texas, on the Whitworth course. The course will be set up as a par 72 at 6,351 out/in yards for this year's event.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The Bruzzy will be a 54-hole stroke play event, with Tuesday featuring 36 holes and 18 on Wednesday. Both days will commence with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT.
THE FIELD
Along with the Illini, the field will feature North Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, BYU, Nebraska, Texas State, Xavier, UTSA, and ULM.

ILLINI AT THE BRUZZY
This will be the Illini's first appearance at The Bruzzy Tournament. Illinois opens the 2026-27 campaign after finishing seventh at the NCAA Stanford Regional last season with a three-round score of 875 (+23).
Erica Lee led the Illini in the final round of the Stanford Regional, firing a 71 (-1) to finish tied for 32nd. Lee recorded three birdies in the final round and finished the tournament with the sixth-best par-five scoring average in the field at 4.50.

UP NEXT
Following this weekend's action, the Illini will head to the Badger Invitational in Madison, Wis., from Sept. 13-15.
