Rose Yeboah became the first ever Ghanaian woman high jumper to qualify for the finals at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo last weekend. The 23-year-old Ghanaian soared over 1.92m (6-3 1/2) in Thursday's qualifying round, securing a place among the world's best. Her achievement makes her the first Ghanaian athlete to reach an individual final at the championships since 2005. Yeboah went on to clear 1.88m (6-2) in Sunday's finals to finish 15th.
Yeboah is a graduate student at the University of Illinois pursuing a master's degree in recreation, sport & tourism.
