Illinois redshirt sophomore Taylor de Boer, who was recently recognized at the 2025 Canadian Sport Awards as this year's recipient of the AthletesCAN True Sport Award, led the Illini to a pair of Big Ten road wins over Maryland and Rutgers. On Friday, Illinois improved to 4-1 during Big Ten play with a four-set road win over Maryland at the Schanwald Pavilion. De Boer logged her fifth double-digit kill effort of Big Ten action with 11 kills while also tacking on two digs and a solo block. On Saturday, October 11th, Illinois closed its time on the East Coast with a road sweep over Rutgers on at Jersey Mike's Arena. The Fighting Illini improved to 5-1 in conference play, their best start since 2011. De Boer led the Illini with 16 kills, her sixth straight outing with double-digit kills. Swinging at a .379 clip, she also added two blocks.
De Boer is a redshirt sophomore majoring in recreation, sport, & tourism.
