Madison, Wis. – Illinois women's golf finished the first round of the Badger Invitational tied for first place after carding a team total of 286 (-2) through 18 holes.
For the first time of the season, the Illini finished below par as a team, marking the first time since opening round of last year's Big Ten Championship.Â
Erica Lee led the way with a career-best 68 (-4) in the first round. Lee had five birdies on the back nine, tying her for second place heading into day two.Â
Brielle Mapanao finished the first round at 72 (E) tying her for ninth. This is her second even-par round through four rounds this season.Â
Victoria Zheng and Alexis Myers are tied for 14th after finishing the first round at 73 (+1). Zheng, with two birdies on the back nine, will look to build off that momentum heading into day two.Â
Anna Ritter is tied for 43rd following a first round of 76 (+4).Â
Tavia Burgess, competing as an individual, is tied for 36th with an opening round score of 75 (+3)
The Fighting Illini will be back Monday with second round action starting at 9 a.m. CT.
