Baldwin Qualifies to World Athletics Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Illinois assistant coach Heath Baldwin earned the silver medal in the decathlon competition today (Aug. 1) at the USATF Outdoor National Championships at Hayward Field. His score of 8,407 points punches his ticket to the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo on Sept. 13-21 where he will represent the United States.

This is Baldwins first outdoor World Athletics Championships; he made his first indoor World Athletics Championships earlier this year where he placed fourth in the heptathlon (6,188 points) in Nanjing, China.
