Illini Fall to No. 18 UCLA

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Illinois baseball (27-21, 12-14) fell to No. 18 UCLA (36-14, 19-7), 9-1, tonight at Illinois Field.

Nick Groves (2-for-3) and Cameron Chee-Aloy (2-for-4) each tallied multi-hit efforts in the loss.

Jake Swartz turned in 4.0 solid innings in relief, allowing just one run on two hits to go along with two strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Both teams traded runs in the first before the Bruins regained the lead with a run in the third. The visitors then pulled away with a six-run fourth and later added a run in the sixth to take a 9-1 lead.

The Illini recorded just one walk over the final four frames of the ballgame and were ultimately handed their second-straight series loss.

UP NEXT

The Fighting Illini will be back in action tomorrow for the final home game of the 2025 season. First pitch in the series finale vs. No. 18 UCLA is set for 12 p.m. CT.
