HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. – Fighting Illini women's golf ended the first day of the 2025 Big Ten Women's Golf Championship tied for first at 2-under (286), today at Bulle Rock Golf Course.
The Orange and Blue will enter tomorrow's second round sharing the team lead with No. 5 ranked Oregon, with four golfers also set to start the day in the top 10.
Victoria Zheng paced Illinois in the opening round with a 70 (-2) to end the day tied for second. Zheng went bogey free on the front, recording an eagle on No. 9 to make the turn at 3-under (33). She then shot a 37 (+1) on the back, picking up one birdie along the way. Zheng was the only player in the first round to post an eagle.
The trio of Lexanne Halama, Yurang Li and Anna Ritter are all tied for 10th after rounds of 72 (E). After a 37 (+1) on the front, Halama tallied a 35 (-1) on the back, amassing three total birdies on the day. Li rolled in 16 pars during her round, tied for the most among the field, carding a 36 (E) on the front and the back. Ritter rebounded from a 39 (+3) on the front with a 33 (-3) on the back, posting three birdies.
Brielle Mapanao is tied for 47th after a first round of 76 (+4).
The Fighting Illini will be back in action tomorrow morning, teeing off on No. 1, starting at 9:10 a.m. CT.
