With its split weekend, No. 45 Illinois moved to 8-9 on the season and 3-3 in Big Ten action. The Illini moved to 7-7 in action from the Atkins Tennis Center with Monday's loss. Illinois is now 0-6 vs. Top-25 ranked opponents this season.
The Huskies are now 12-2 on the season and 5-1 in league play.
The Orange and Blue got on the scoreboard first, taking the doubles point after a battle in the opening round of action. McKenna Schaefbauer and Kasia Treiber were victorious at No. 3 doubles, earning a 6-4 victory. Washington picked up the win on the top doubles court next. With all eyes on No. 2 doubles, Alice Xu and Violeta Martinez would outlast their opposition with a 7-6(5) victory after trailing 1-5 in the tiebreaker.
Sunday's doubles point marked the 10th of the season for Illinois and fourth in Big Ten play. Schaefbauer and Treiber improved to 10-6 in dual play and 4-2 in Big Ten matches when working together. Martinez and Xu climbed to 7-5 in dual action this season and 3-3 in league play.
Washington battled back in singles and claimed wins at No. 6, 3, 1, and 5, respectively, to earn a 4-1 decision in the match.
