TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Fighting Illini women's golf ended the second round of the Florida State Match Up alone in second place after carding a team total of 299 (+11) today at Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
The Orange and Blue will enter tomorrow's final round 13 strokes behind leaders and hosts Florida State. Two Illinois golfers will enter the third round in the top 10 while two more will start the day in the top 20.
Victoria Zheng and Lexanne Halama are both tied for third at 1-over (145). Starting the round off of No. 1, the pair each fired a 35 (-1) on the front with Halama going bogey free. Zheng would finish the round with a 74 (+2) while Halama would post a 75 (+3).
Zheng's eight birdies through the first 36 holes of play are tied for third-most among the field and Halama's 24 pars are tied for fifth-most.
Anna Ritter is tied for 11th after recording a team-low 71 (-1) on the day. After going 2-over on the front, Ritter went bogey free on the back, rolling in three birdies.
Yurang Li is tied for 30th after an 82 (+10) and Brielle Mapanao is tied for 55th following a 79 (+7).
Erica Lee, competing individually, is tied for 15th after a second round 75 (+3).
Florida State's Mirabel Ting leads the tournament individually at 11-under (133).
The Fighting Illini will be back in action tomorrow morning, with third and final round tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. CT.
