Illini Track and Field Signs Luuk Pelkmans

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois track and field team signs U20 decathlon national champion, Luuk Pelkmans. The Dutch native stands at six foot eight inches tall and joins a strong combined events crew under Petros Kyprianou.
Pelkmans holds personal bests of 7,490 points in the decathlon and 5,908 points in the heptathlon which would rank second and third, respectively, in the Illinois record book. His 5,908 heptathlon score he set on Feb. 9, 2025, ranks him No. 1 in his age group.
