SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Illinois men's and women's distance medley relay (DMR) teams completed the Alex Wilson Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 22). The men's DMR team of Nicolas Dovalovsky, Jackson Gilbert, Tadeas Placek and Will Merrick placed seventh on a new school record time (9:24.45), improving it by nearly five seconds.
The school record they took down belonged to Jesse Reiser, Joe Haight, Denis O'Callaghan and Jon Davis (9:29.19) set back in 2019. The 9:24.45 time today is currently the 12th-fastest in the nation putting them in place to qualify to the NCAA Indoor Championships.
On the women's side, their DMR team of Halle Hill, Azariyah Bryant, Sam Poglitsch and Kennady Anderson placed sixth with the program's second-fastest time (11:08.64). Their time is currently the 22nd fastest in the nation.

The Fighting Illini track and field crews return to action next weekend (Feb. 28-March 1) for the Big Ten Indoor Championships in Indianapolis. The women's team looks to defend their title they won last year for the first time in 11 years.
