ROSEMONT, Ill. – Fighting Illini junior Max Herendeen has been named Big Ten Golfer of the Week following his runner-up performance at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational in Saucier, Miss., Oct. 19-21. The Big Ten Conference announced the honor Thursday afternoon.
- Posted a runner-up finish to lead the Fighting Illini to a third-place showing against a strong field at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational
- Shot a season-best score of 204 (-12), with rounds of 69-69-66
- His final round of 66 (-6) also marked a season best
- Recorded par or better in 64 of 72 holes with 18 birdies and one eagle
- Secured the 11th top-five finish of his collegiate career
- Closed the fall season with a stroke average of 68.92, on pace to break the Illinois single-season record of 69.56 set by Adrien Dumont de Chassart in 2022-23
- Lowered his career stroke average to 70.61, also on pace to break Dumont de Chassart's Illinois record of 70.82
It marks the second-career Big Ten Golfer of the Week honor for Herendeen, his first this season, and the first for the Fighting Illini in 2025-26.
