CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois junior Kenta Miyoshi earned a spot on the Big Ten Men's Tennis Players to Watch list, the conference office announced on Friday.
After going 27-9 in singles play and securing All-Big Ten honors during his sophomore season, Miyoshi earned ITA Singles All-America accolades in the fall as one of the final 16 players remaining in the NCAA Singles Championship. Now sitting at a career-high No. 14 in the ITA singles rankings, Miyoshi holds a 12-5 record heading into the 2025 spring slate.
The Kawasaki, Japan, native has secured nine ranked victories thus far this season, which includes a stretch of four-consecutive wins over ranked opposition at Battle in the Bay en route to winning the singles consolation title.
Posting five-straight triumphs at the ITA Midwest Regional to progress to the NCAA Singles Championship, Miyoshi defeated Kentucky's No. 77 Jack Loutit and Cornell's No. 6 Radu Papoe at the national tournament, the latter of which helped him secure All-American status for the first time in his career.
One of 14 honorees to secure a spot on the Big Ten Men's Tennis Players to Watch list, Miyoshi enters his third dual season with the Orange and Blue in 2025.
