Debru, Miyoshi Earn All-Big Ten First Team Honors, Jilly Named to All-Freshman Team

NEWS

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Three Fighting Illini student-athletes earned All-Big Ten honors following the 2025-26 regular season, the conference office announced on Thursday. Kenta Miyoshi was tabbed with unanimous All-Big Ten First Team status for the second straight year, Gabriel Debru secured All-Big Ten First Team and All-Freshman Team accolades, and Adam Jilly was named to the All-Freshman Team and was selected as the Illini's Sportsmanship Award honoree.

Miyoshi, named to an All-Big Ten team for the third season in a row, posted a 6-1 singles mark in Big Ten play, bringing his career conference singles record to 22-4 across his four years at Illinois. An ITA Singles All-American for the second consecutive campaign, Miyoshi went 4-1 on the top singles court and 2-0 at No. 2 while amassing a 13-7 record overall during dual play.

Going 4-0 against ranked Big Ten singles opponents, Miyoshi was one of four unanimous first-team selections, joined by Michigan's Max Dahlin, Michigan State's Aristotelis Thanos, and Ohio State's Aidan Kim.

The Tokyo, Japan, native became the first Illini to earn All-Big Ten First Team honors in consecutive seasons since Hunter Heck did so during the 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24 seasons.

Debru made an immediate impact in the Illini lineup in his first season with the Orange and Blue, playing primarily at No. 1 and 2 singles and No. 1 doubles during conference play. The French freshman went 5-3 in singles against Big Ten opponents, which included two straight-set wins against ranked opposition.

He is the first Illini freshman to earn All-Big Ten First Team accolades since Alex Brown during the 2017-18 campaign.

Jilly tallied a 7-2 Big Ten singles record during the regular season while competing mainly on Court 4. He closed the conference slate with a four-match winning streak, with three of those victories coming in straight sets. Also named the team's Sportsmanship Award honoree, Jilly has ranked as high as No. 87 in singles and No. 34 in doubles and notched the Illini's second-most singles triumphs heading into the postseason.

No. 3-seeded Illinois begins its Big Ten Tournament run in the quarterfinals against No. 6-seeded Wisconsin on Thursday night at 8 p.m. CT.
