Four Top-10 Program Marks Set on Second Day of NIC Championships

OCALA, Fla./LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Illinois swim and dive programs each wrapped up their second day of their season finales on Friday (March 15). Junior Logan Kuehne clocked the program's second-fastest 100 IM in the time trials today at 56.94.

Sophomore Sara Jass claimed fourth place in the 400 IM finals on the program's third-fastest time of 4:15.38, shaving 2.92 seconds off her qualifying time (4:18.30).

Junior Sydney Stoll also advanced to the night finals with Jass. Stoll placed fifth in the 200 freestyle (1:47.79) and dropped 0.81 seconds off her prelims time (1:48.60).

The 200 medley relay squad of Stoll, freshman Gwen Bakker, Kuehne and senior Laurel Bludgen finished in eighth place on the program's sixth-fastest time (1:40.60).

Bakker notched another top-10 program mark in this morning's prelims, this time in the 100 breaststroke. She placed 27th overall on a time of 1:02.95 to tie teammate Jass for eighth in the program record book.

The 800 freestyle relay team of junior Paloma Canos Cervera, freshman Martina Cibulkova, sophomore Adelaide Reaser and freshman Kalina Nikolaeva closed out the day in 16th place (7:26.80).

FROM LOUISVILLE

Today's competition from the NCAA Diving Zones was the three-meter springboards. Dani O'Kelly led the way for the Orange and Blue divers scoring a 242.50 to claim 29th place. Her freshman teammate, Matilda Garcia, was the next Illini to finish when she placed 36th on a score of 233.20. Senior Taylor Michael rounded out the day for the Illinois divers in 39th place by scoring a 228.05.
