OCALA, Fla. — Illinois swim completed day two of the CSCAA National Invitational Championship on Friday evening, competing in the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 800 freestyle relay, and 400 freestyle relay. Illinois sits in 7th place of 46 schools, with a total of 223 points after day two.
Senior Sara Jass started the prelims session strong, coming in fourth with a time of 4:15.98 to qualify for the A final.
Teammate Chloe Diner qualified for her second A final in as many days, with the sixth-best prelims time in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.70). Diner also earned her way to the B final in the 100 butterfly (54.45).
Kayla Duran qualified for the B final in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.83), and Michelle Kaner swam a B-qualifying time in the 100 backstroke prelims (54.87).
In the evening session, the 200 medley relay team of Sophia Paduano, Duran, Diner, and Isabella Wilhelm finished eighth, swimming a 1:40.97.
Jass finished fourth in the 400 IM (4:14.25), while Diner also finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke race (1:00.64). In the 100 butterfly B final, Diner lowered her time from the morning to finish in 14th (53.85).
