CLEMSON, S.C. – The Illinois men's and women's track and field teams completed day one of the Tiger Paw Invitational on Friday (Feb. 9).
Junior Jessica McDowell set a new personal-best and improved her program's second-best 400m time to 52.33. She placed seventh in today's race and her mark is currently the 11th fastest in the country.
Freshman Jordan Koskondy improved her program's second-best weight throw mark to 20.41m (66-11 1/2), her third improvement this season, she placed fourth. Her teammate graduate student Amber Simson placed second, 21.54m (70-8).
Junior Tori Thomas won her fifth straight pole vault competition clearing 4.35m (14-3 1/4) in today's competition. She's won it in every single meet she's competed in this season. Senior Tyler Sudduth placed second in the weight throw with a toss of 22.97m (75-4 1/2).
Freshman Elizabeth Ndudi placed second in the long jump and fell two centimeters short of leaping a new personal-best, 6.40m (21-0). Senior Robert Williams clocked a new personal-best 400m (47.67).

The Illini track and field teams are back in action tomorrow (Feb. 10) for the final day of the Tiger Paw Invitational with field events starting at 8 a.m. and track events at 11 a.m. CT.
