Stoll Splinters 100 Butterfly School Record on Third Day of B1G Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Illinois swim and dive team wrapped up the third day of the Big Ten Championships on Friday (Feb. 23). Junior Sydney Stoll shattered her own school record in the 100 butterfly prelims (54.00) she placed 15th to qualify to the B finals. In the B finals she placed seventh (54.54) to score 12 team points.

The 200 freestyle relay team of junior Logan Kuehne, senior Lily Olson, senior Laurel Bludgen and junior Molly Yetter placed seventh with the program's second-fastest time (1:31.05).

Freshmen Gwen Bakker and Kylee Sessions both qualified to the C finals in the 100 breaststroke. Bakker placed sixth with the program's tenth-fastest time (1:03.00, three points) and Sessions placed eighth (1:04.55, one point). Junior Suvana Baskar touched fifth in the 100 backstroke C finals clocking in at 54.27 to score four team points.

Freshman diver Matilda Garcia led the way again for the Illini on the springboards. She placed 27th in the three-meter dive with a score of 240.30.

Senior Laurel Bludgen clocked a new personal-best in the 100 butterfly (57.98) while junior Paloma Canos Cervera did so in the 200 freestyle (1:51.90).
