
Robert Holcombe to Serve as Honorary Captain vs. Purdue

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois Athletics Hall of Famer Robert Holcombe will serve as the #23 Illinois football team's honorary captain against Purdue on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT on FS1.
Holcombe competed at Illinois from 1994-97, finishing his collegiate career as the Illini's all-time leading rusher with 4,105 yards and a school-record 16 100-yard rushing games. He enjoyed a seven-year NFL career that included a Super Bowl title in 1999 with the St. Louis Rams.
Holcombe is back on campus to take part in the Illinois Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremonies on Friday at 7 p.m. CT at State Farm Center. The event is free and open to the public via the west entrance to State Farm Center.
