Illini Swim and Dive Ready for Home-Opener

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Orange and Blue swim and dive team will welcome in Vanderbilt for their first home dual of the season at the ARC Pool on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. CT. Sophomore Sara Jass swam the first top-10 program mark of the year against Pepperdine; she's now third on the 100 IM leaderboard (58.33).

Illinois currently holds a 1-2 dual record with their win against Pepperdine (164-75) sandwiched between losses to Kansas (131-169) and UCLA (73.5-167.5).

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

Vanderbilt boasts a 1-1 dual record as they started their season on Sept. 29 with a 75-180 home loss to Florida. A month later they picked up their first win on the year at home against Iowa, 138-124. Last season the Commodores went 5-4-1 overall and 0-2 in the SEC, they were a perfect 3-0 at neutral sites. They placed 12th in the SEC Championships.

PINK MEET

This will be Illinois' Pink Meet to raise awareness for breast cancer. Illinois swim and dive will host a "Chuck-A-Duck" fundraiser for the UIUC Cancer Center. Fans can win four tickets to the Dad's Day football game vs. Indiana on Nov. 11 by making them into a hula hoop in the pool. Duck cost is one duck for $5, three for $10 and 5 for $20 and donations are cash only for this event. Fans are also encouraged to enjoy complimentary pink donuts and coffee.
