EUGENE, ORE. – Illinois track and field junior Olivia Howell made it two-for-two for the Illini at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships as she advanced to the women's 1500m final on Thursday (June 9) night at Hayward Field.
Howell used a strong final lap to put herself in qualifying position, recording a time of 4:13.76 to place fourth in her heat and fourth overall between the two semifinal races.

Howell joins graduate student Jon Davis in the quest for a national championship in the 1500m, with Davis running in the men's final on Friday (June 10) at 8:12 p.m. CT and Howell racing in the women's final on Saturday (June 11) at 4:41 p.m. CT.
