McGrath Collects CoSIDA Academic All-America Third-Team Honors

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini women's track and field and cross country graduate student Allison McGrath was named to the 2021-22 Academic All-America Third-Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Tuesday (June 21).
McGrath becomes the 15th Academic All-America honoree in program history as well as the ninth female to earn the distinguished accolade and the first female since Marissa Golliday garnered third-team accolades in 2013.
The honor, which is selected by CoSIDA members, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
A highly decorated Illini, McGrath is a four-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree and a three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, as well as a seven-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree between cross country and track and field. As a graduate student, she earned the Top Individual GPA award for her class at the 2022 Oskees.
She has garnered a pair of NCAA Midwest All-Region honors and was named Second-Team All-Big Ten in 2021 for cross country. On the track, she qualified for the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Prelims and holds the program record in the 10000m at 33:59.94, while also owning two event titles and 19 top-five finishes combined in both sports.
The Wheaton, Ill., native posted a 3.96 undergraduate GPA after earning a bachelor's degree in integrative biology with a minor in animal science and chemistry and currently owns a 4.00 GPA in her agricultural production graduate program.
