TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Illinois women's golf team opened play at the 2022 NCAA Tallahassee Regional, turning in a 19-over par 307 to sit in 11th place following the first round at the par 72, 6,292-yard Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
UCLA leads the regional with an even-par 288 on the opening day, with Florida State (+2) and Mississippi State (+3) rounding out the top three. Miami, South Carolina and Quinnipiac are tied in fourth place for the last advancing spot at 11-over par.
Senior Kornkamol Sukaree paced the Illini with a three-over 75 and is tied for 25th, with sophomore Isabel Sy and freshman Lexanne Halama tied for 39th after carding a five-over 77 on Monday. Senior Crystal Wang and junior Siyan Chen each posted a six-over 78 and are tied for 47th through one round.
Florida State's Beatrice Wallin and Mississippi State's Ashley Gilliam lead the tournament individually with a three-under 69 in the first round.
The NCAA Tallahassee Regional continues with the second round on Tuesday (May 10) with Illini tee times between 8:06-8:50 a.m. CT off of hole 10 and paired with College of Charleston and Denver. Fans can follow along with live scoring via Golfstat.com.
