TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Illinois women's golf team turned in the fourth-best round of the day and moved into a tie for seventh following the second round at the 2022 NCAA Tallahassee Regional on Tuesday (May 10). The Illini carded an 11-over par 299 on day two and own a 30-over par total of 606 through two rounds at the par 72, 6,292-yard Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
UCLA continues to lead the tournament and is tied with host Florida State at four-over par with a 36-hole total of 580. Mississippi State (+14) and South Carolina (+19) round out the top four, with the Illini 11 strokes off the last advancing spot.
The Illini were led by senior Crystal Wang and sophomore Isabel Sy on Tuesday, with the duo tied for 20th with a six-over tournament total of 150. Wang rebounded to move up 27 spots from Monday's opening round, turning in an even-par 72, while Sy posted a one-over par 73 to move up 19 spots on the day.
Junior Siyan Chen was right behind the pair with a two-over par 74 in the second round and is tied for 30th with an eight-over par 152 total heading into the final day.
Rounding out the Illini were freshman Lexanne Halama and senior Kornkamol Sukaree, who are both tied for 51st with a 13-over total of 157 as Halama recorded an eight-over 80 and Sukaree posted a 10-over 82 on Tuesday.
Emma Spitz of UCLA leads the tournament individually with a four-under total of 140 through two rounds.
The NCAA Tallahassee Regional wraps up play on Wednesday (May 11) with Illini tee times between 7-7:44 a.m. CT off of hole 10 and paired with North Florida and Ole Miss. Fans can follow along with live scoring via Golfstat.com.
