COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 25 Illinois women's golf team wrapped up its 2021-22 regular season on Saturday (April 16), earning a third-place finish at the Lady Buckeye Invitational with 49-over par tournament total of 913 after recording a final round of 305 (+17) at the par 72, 6,319-yard Ohio State Golf Club Scarlet Course.
It is the second-straight top-five finish for the newly-ranked Illini, who came in at No. 25 in the newest Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll, and the sixth top-five finish of the season.
Host Ohio State took home the tournament team title with a 54-hole total of 897 (+33), while Kent State was just one stroke ahead of UI in second place with a tournament total of 912 (+48). Michigan State (916) and Nebraska (923) rounded out the top five.
Individually, senior Crystal Wang posted her third top-five of the season as she tied for fifth with a six-over par tournament total of 222 after carding a final round score of 77 (+5).
Along with Wang, the Orange and Blue had three Illini in the top-15 as senior Kornkamol Sukaree finished in a tie for ninth after turning in the low Illini round of the day with an even-par 72 for an 11-over par total of 227. Sophomore Isabel Sy had her third-straight top-15 finish as she tied for 12th with a 54-hole total of 229 (+13) after recording a six-over par 78 in her final round.
Junior Siyan Chen tied for 40th with a tournament total of 241 (+25) after posting a six-over par 78 on the day, while freshman Alise Knudson earned her career-best finish with a tie for 47th as she registered a 243 (+27) total after an 86 (+14) in her final round.
Kent State's Emily Price took home individual medalist honors with one-under par total of 215.
