Illini Open B1G Road Trip with 4-2 Win at Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Illinois women's tennis team made it three-straight with a 4-2 win at Iowa on Friday (April 1) afternoon in the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.

The Illini, who improved to 11-6 on the season and 4-1 in the Big Ten, continued their strong doubles play as sophomore Kate Duong and freshman Megan Heuser earned a 6-3 win on court one, before the junior duo of Ashley Yeah and Josie Frazier finished off the point with a 6-2 win on court two.

After the Hawkeyes (4-12, 0-5 B1G) tied things up with a win at No. 3 singles, Heuser put the Illini ahead with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Samantha Gillas on court four. Duong then fought back for a 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 win on court one to pull UI within one point of victory.

Iowa added a second point with a win on court two, but for the third-straight match freshman Kasia Treiber clinched the victory from as the rookie registered a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 victory over Michelle Bacalla on court five.
