Champaign, Ill.: The Fighting Illini diving team placed third at the UIC Diving Invite in Chicago this weekend. The divers placed 3rd of the 7 women's teams in attendance with a score of 72, falling short to only UChicago in 2nd with 80 points and and host team UIC in first with 80.Â
The Orange and Blue traveled three divers this weekend to the invite. Those three being the dynamic twin duo, sophomores Brooke Michael and Taylor Michael, and recently-recovered senior Taylor Shegos. The Michael twins competed in both the 1-meter and 3-meter, and Shegos competed in just the 1-meter. Shegos stunned yet again, putting up a mighty 290.30 score, which landed her on the podium in second.
Brooke Michael put up consistent numbers on the day, scoring a personal-best 304.30 in the 3-meter, good for third, and 232.70 in the one meter, placing seventh. Her score in the 3-meter marks the third week in a row that she has broken her personal best score, and has continuously broken it throughout the season. Taylor Michael also had a decent day on the boards, placing 6th in the 1-meter with a score of 251.80 and placed 5th in the 3-meter with a score of 284.50.Â
