CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The University of Illinois track and field program has announced their 2023 indoor/outdoor schedule. The indoor season kicks off shortly after the new year in Champaign with the Illini Classic on January 6. The outdoor season begins on March 24-25 at UCLA for a pair of invitationals.
The Illini will host four meets in total this year, two indoor and two outdoor. The second indoor home meet is the Illini Challenge on January 27-28. On April 8 Illinois will welcome teams to Demirjian Park for the Fighting Illini Challenge. Illinois wraps up their home meets on April 21-22 with the Gary Wieneke Memorial.
Schedule Notes:
- Illinois will have the same number of meets in the state of California (five) as they do in Illinois.
- The Illini will visit Albuquerque, N.M. twice during the indoor season, exactly a month apart. First at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, then the NCAA Indoor Championships.
- The Illini will be separated across three meets during the April 12-15 stretch. All three in California.
- Illinois will only visit a Big Ten track twice this season: The Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa and the Big Ten Outdoor Championships in Bloomington, Ind.
- Illini meets by month: January (four), February (three), March (two), April (six), May (two) and June (one).
