NORMAN, Okla. – After a strong opening day, the Illinois women's golf team sit in second place at the 2021 Schooner Fall Classic at the Belmar Golf Club (par 70, 6,109 yards) on Sunday (Sept. 26). The Illini posted a 36-hole team total of 567 (+7) with an opening round of 282 and moved up three spots in the standings following a second-round 285 total.
Senior Kornkamol Sukaree paced the Illini with back-to-back one-under rounds of 69 and is tied for second on the individual leaderboard with a 138 (-2) total. She is just four strokes off of leader Caley McGinty of Oklahoma State at six-under.
Joining her in the top-10 is sophomore Isabel Sy, who is tied for seventh after carding rounds of 69-71 for an even-par total of 140 (E), with junior Siyan Chen sitting in a tie for 13th with a one-over par total of 141 (+1) with rounds of 70-71.
Rounding out the Illini are senior Crystal Wang and freshman Lexanne Halama, who each turned in back-to-back rounds of 74-74 for an eight-over par total of 148 (+8) to sit in a tie for 47th.
Oklahoma State leads the tournament with a two-round team total of 549 (-11).
Monday's final round tees off beginning at 8:50 p.m. CT, with the Illini paired with Oklahoma and Iowa State starting on the first hole. Live score will be available via GolfStat.com.
