CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Fighting Illini Swimming and Diving team has released its 2021-2022 schedule, including three meets hosted at the ARC Pool. The Fighting Illini will kick off their season on October 9th for their annual Orange and Blue meet, marking their first home meet since October 31st of 2020.
The Illini travel to Terre Haute, Indiana on Friday, October 15th to start their 2021-2022 campaign in a meet versus Indiana State. The Fighting Illini compete the following two weeks at Northwestern to face Northwestern and UIC (October 23rd) and will then travel to Nashville, TN to face Vanderbilt.
Head Coach Sue Novitsky, beginning her 22nd season as head coach and her 26th season on the coaching staff, is showing excitement going into this year. "We are looking forward to starting the season and competing against strong competition," she says, "We will take each opportunity to test ourselves and continue to grow as a team."
The Fighting Illini will wrap up their regular season run with Senior Day commencing in Champaign on Saturday, January 22nd versus Nebraska and will then face Purdue in West Lafayette on January 29th. The Illini divers close out their regular season on February 5th at the UIC Diving Invitational In Chicago.
The Big Ten Championships are scheduled for February 16-19th in Madison, Wisconsin, and the NCAA Championships are set to commence from March 16-19th in Atlanta, Georgia.
Schedule Notes:
- Home opener set for Saturday, January 15th versus Iowa.
- Dual meets against four Illinois schools, including Northwestern, UIC, ISU and SIU
- UI will travel to Miami, Fla. to face off against Florida International University.
- NCAA Championships will be held in Atlanta, Ga., from March 16-19
