SARASOTA, Fla. --Â Illinois junior Crystal Wang carded a 1-under 71 Tuesday, her third straight under-par round, to finish in fifth place against the stacked field at the Heroes Ladies Intercollegiate. The Illini finished in 10th place as a team and second among Big Ten foes, ahead of Purdue and Minnesota, at The Founders Club.Â
Wang was 5-under in 54 holes to tally the best spring tournament score of her career. She used scores of 71-69-71 to finish with a three-day total of 211, tying for the eighth-best 54-hole tournament score (-5) in program history.Â
Senior Tristyn Nowlin and freshman Isabel Sy were Illinois' second-best finishers at tied for 48th place with +11 totals. Senior Ali Morallos finished +14 and Reena Sulkar was +20.Â
Oklahoma State's Maja Stark was the individual winner at -15 and led the Cowgirls to a team tournament title, also at -15.Â
Round 2 Recap
Crystal Wang fired a 3-under 69 to lead the Illinois women's golf team to a 5-over team score of 293 Monday at the Heroes Ladies Intercollegiate at The Founders Club. Illinois moved up to 10th ahead of Tuesday's final round.Â
After a first-round 71, Wang is positioned tied for sixth with 18 holes to play. Oklahoma State's Maja Stark leads the field at -12 and Ole Miss leads the team scores at -13.Â
Wang's day tied for the lowest spring score of her career (69, Clemson Invitational 4/7/2019) and was one stroke away from tying her Illini overall career low (68, twice in fall tournaments). She birdied the final three holes of her round - the 8th, 9th, and 10th holes - and birdied four of her final five holes.Â
Senior Tristyn Nowlin turned in an even-par 72, freshman Isabel Sy finished with a 1-over 73, and senior Ali Morallos and junior Reena Sulkar both shot 7-over 79s.Â
The Heroes Ladies Intercollegiate finishes its 54-hole tournament Tuesday morning.Â

Illinois junior Crystal Wang shot a 1-under 71 Sunday to sit in eighth place after one round of the Heroes Ladies Intercollegiate at The Founders Club. Illinois is in 11th place with a team score of +13 (301).Â
Wang had four birdies and three bogies to be one of nine players in the 75-player field to shoot under par. She started the day birdie-birdie on the 10th and 11th holes, respectively, and tied for the lead in the field with a 2-under score on the course's par-3s.Â
Freshman Isabel Sy was Illinois' second-best scorer with a 3-over 75 in her first collegiate tournament. Senior Ali Morallos was +4 and senior Tristyn Nowlin finished +7 to finish the Illini's scoring.Â
