WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Illinois women's golf team continued play at The Landfall Tradition on Saturday (Oct. 30) and moved up two spots to sit in a tie for 10th place with a two-over par team score of 290 for a 36-hole total of 589 (+13) at the par-72, 6,150-yard Pete Dye Course at the Country Club of Landfall.
Senior Crystal Wang had a stand out round, moving up 22 spots and is tied for fifth with a two-round total of 142 (-2) after carding a season-low-tying four-under 68 score with six birdies and 10 pars on the day. Senior Kornkamol Sukaree also sits in the top-20 and is tied for 19th with an even-par total of 144 after posting her second-straight even-par 72 in the second round.
Sophomore Isabel Sy and junior Siyan Chen each turned in a three-over 75 on Saturday, with Sy tied for 58th with a 36-hole total of 151 (+7) and Chen in a tie for 63rd with a 152 (+8) score through two rounds. Freshman Lexanne Halama carded a seven-over 79 in her second round and own a 161 (+17) total heading into Sunday's final round. Â
Michigan continues leads the tournament with an eight-under par total of 568, with South Carolina (569), Michigan State (576), UCF (578) and Virginia Tech (580) rounding out the top five. The Wolverines' Mikaele Schulz took a second-round lead individually with a seven-under total of 137 through two rounds after a five-under 67 on Saturday.
The Illini wrap up play at The Landfall Tradition with the third and final round on Sunday (Oct. 31) with a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m. CT. Fans can follow along with live scoring via Golfstat.com.
