NEW ORLEANS - 10 Fighting Illini men's and women's track and field student-athletes were recognized Monday for their accomplishments on the track and in the classroom, as the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its All-Academic honorees for 2018-19.
In order to qualify for the honor, student-athletes must obtain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25, and must also have finished either in the NCAA top-96 of an individual event or top-48 in a relay during the indoor season, or have advanced to NCAA West Prelims during the outdoor season.
Additionally, both the women's and men's programs received team GPA awards, as the women's team achieved a 3.14 GPA and the men's team earned a 3.09 GPA.
