Football Announces Three Season Captains

Allegretti, Harding, Phillips voted as season captains; A fourth captain will be named each game week

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini head coach Lovie Smith announced at practice Tuesday that senior Nick Allegretti (offense), senior Del'Shawn Phillips (defense) and junior Dele Harding (special teams) have been voted season captains for the 2018 season. The captains were determined by a vote of Illini players. Each game week a fourth captain will be voted on and will join the three season captains for that week's game.
Illinois kicks off the 2018 season on Saturday when Kent State comes to Memorial Stadium (11 a.m. CT on BTN).
