
Allegretti Named to AFCA Good Works Watch List

AFCA Good Works Team Watch List
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Illinois senior Nick Allegretti was named to the American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team watch list, the AFCA announced Tuesday. Allegretti appears on the watch list for the second straight year.
The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team is one of the most prestigious off-the-field honors in college football. It honors student-athlete's dedication to volunteerism, community involvement and enriching the lives of others. These student-athletes have made significant contributions to the greater good of society, inspiring future generations of young athletes and the larger college football community.
Allegretti has been one of the most productive Illini both on and off the field during his time in Champaign. He has organized Illinois' Lift for Life in each of the last two years, which has raised over $60,000 for Uplifting Athletes to help fight rare diseases. The Frankfort, Illinois, native was a team captain last season and an All-Big Ten honorable mention selection. He has played in all 36 games in the last three years and started 24 straight over the past two seasons.
Allegretti will represent Illinois at the Big Ten Media Days in Chicago next Monday and Tuesday.

• Started all 12 games as a sophomore in 2016, 11 at guard and one at center
• Played in all 12 games as an offensive lineman (both C and G) and on special teams (FG protection) in 2015
• Three-time Academic All-Big Ten
• Helped Illinois' Uplifting Athletes chapter raise over $60,000 for charity at the last two Lift for Life events
• 2018 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree
