Racing in heat three of four, the 2018 indoor bronze medalist set the second best at-large time of the qualifying round with a time of 2:07.99. The time placed her runner-up in her heat and seventh among qualifiers.
Choquette will race at 1:03 p.m. central time as she looks to improve on her sixth-place finish from last season's outdoor conference meet.
Falling just shy of reaching finals on Saturday, Chisom Nwoko three-hundredths of a second off qualifying position with a time of 53.27. The time was good for runner-up in heat two of competition.
Competing in two events on Saturday, Briana Driver set her second furthest jump of the season in the long jump and then tied her season-best performance in the 100m dash prelims. Driver leaped 19'7.5" (5.98m) on her first attempt, and surpassed 19 feet on all three of her jumps, but fell shy of reaching finals. The junior returned for 100-meter qualifying, timing 11.81 to tie her time from earlier in the season at the Jim Click Shootout.
The Fighting Illini will conclude action at the 2018 Big Ten Outdoor Championships on Sunday, beginning at 10 a.m. central time, with a final field event and four track events. The meet can be streamed live on FloTrack and BTN Plus through a subscription to the platform.
