Final ResultsĀ
MAINEVILLE, Ohio - The 22nd-rankedĀ Fighting Illini women's golf team matched a program-best single round, carding a final round of 281 (-7) to tie for second place at the Big Ten Championships. The runner-up finish is the team's best finish at the tournament since 1976.

"A fantastic day to go out and post a 7-under par round in the conference championship," head coach Renee Slone said. "The team came out with a determined, nothing to lose attitude and went after it. I am proud of the belief they continue to have in what they are capable of and this is a great springboard into NCAA regionals."

Grace Park, Chayanid Prapassarangkul and Bing SinghsumaleeĀ tied for eighth place overallĀ with three-day totals of 214 (-2). Park finished with rounds of 71-73-70, while PrapassarangkulĀ shot a first round of 74 (+2), a second round of 72 (E) and a final round of 68 (-4). After a 71 (-1) and a 70 (-2) on the first two days, SinghsumaleeĀ finished her weekend off with a 73 (+1).Ā

Tying for 34th was freshman Ali Morallos, who came away with rounds of 76-76-71 for a three-day total of 223 (+7). Dana GattoneĀ carded a 74 (+2) on Sunday after a 76 (+4) on Friday and a 79 (+7) on Saturday to tie for 54th overall.Ā

After withdrawing from play on Friday, sophomore Tristyn NowlinĀ put together a strong weekend, posting rounds of 75 (+3) and 72 (E).Ā

Michigan State won the championship at 5-under par, while Maryland tied the Illini for second at minus one. Northwestern (+1) and Ohio State (+1) tied for fourth, followed by Purdue (+3), Michigan (+19), Penn State (+23), Wisconsin (+25), Indiana (+25), Minnesota (+33), Iowa (+36), Nebraska (+41) and Rutgers (+50).Ā

"The growth of the program has been a process in the making over several years. Building a championship culture and mindset has taken time and the players, year after year, have bought into that process and continued to propel the program forward. There is no ceiling for women's golf. This team is capable of anything they set their minds to."Ā
