TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Illinois women's golf concluded the Florida State Match Up on Sunday evening, climbing to finish in fourth place of 12 teams. The Orange and Blue registered a 287 (-1) in round three, good for an 884 (+20) overall, and the best final day of any team in the field. The fourth place finish is the team's best so far this spring.
Leading the charge for the Fighting Illini were high finishers Brielle Mapanao and Anna Ritter, who both concluded the weekend tied for 16th, alongside Katie Scheck of Mercer. Mapanao carded a 74 in round three, while Ritter earned a 76.
Just behind were Alexis Myers and Victoria Zheng, who finished tied for 19th, alongside Francesca Sumcad of Sam Houston. Each scoring a 70 (-2), Myers and Zheng rose up the ranks by 16 places on the final day, the largest leap of any golfers in the tournament.
Erica Lee improved eight places with a 73, her tournament low round, to finish in a tie for 27th. Kylie Eaton rounded out the Illinois leaderboard, also scoring a 73 to rise ten places and finish tied for 31st.
