TUCSON, Ariz. - After one round of play at the MeadowView Collegiate, the 23rd ranked Illini are on top with a day one team total of 288 (E). Senior Grace Park and sophomore Tristyn Nowlin lead the way, sitting tied for second overall after posting rounds of 69 (-3).
"The team rebounded well after a bit of a slow start," head coach Renee Slone said. "We gave ourselves some good opportunities and managed the conditions fairly well. We were able to gain some additional knowledge about how this course plays and look forward to tomorrow's round."
Nowlin and Park's rounds of 69 (-3) tie for the 16th best individual round in school history. At 2-over par, senior Chayanid Prapassarangkul is tied for 22nd place after a round one total of 74, while junior Bing Singhsumalee carded a 76 (+4) and is currently tied for 38th place.
Senior Dana Gattone posted a round one score of 84 (+12) and is tied for 77th place overall. Competing as an individual, freshman Ali Morallos sits in 10th place after a par showing of 72 (E).
