MAINEVILLE, Ohio. – The Illinois women's golf team sits in seventh place after two rounds at the Big Ten Women's' golf Championships. The Fighting Illini recorded a 303 (+15) at TPC River's Bend (Par 72, 6,357 yards).
"As a team we just didn't quite manage ourselves, manage the game or manage the conditions very well," said head coach Renee Slone. "The golf we have played the last two days is not indicative of how we have performed all season long."
Illinois is led by Chayanid Prapassarangkul and Swing Liu. Both are tied for 21st place with a 152 (+8). Prapassarangkul carded a 74 (+2) in the second round after a 78 (+6) performance in the first round, recording a birdie on the 8th and 18th holes. After a 73 (+1) score for the first round, Liu posted a 79 (+7) in the second round and birdied the seventh hole.
Sitting in a tie for 29th, Bing Singhsumalee posted a second round score of 77 (+5). Singhsumalee birdied the ninth hole, and has a two-round score of 153 (+9). Carding a 78 (+6) on the day, Grace Park is tied for 36th after recording a 77 (+5) in the first round for a 155 (+11) through two rounds.
Dana Gattone posted a 75 (+3) score for the second round, and sits in a tie for 46th with a 157 (+13) overall. Currently in a tie for 55th, Stephanie Miller carded a 77 (+5) on the day to go with her 82 (+10) from the first round for a 159 (+15) two-round score.
"We have got one more opportunity at this golf course this year, so we will get out there and get at it tomorrow and finish strong," Slone said.
The final round of the Big Ten Women's Golf Championship will tee off Sunday morning at 7 a.m. CT.
