FAIRFAX, Calif. – The Illinois women's golf team placed third at the Meadow Club Women's Intercollegiate on Tuesday, it's fifth top-five finish of the year. The Fighting Illini carded rounds of 294-296-291 for a final score of 881 (+17) at the Meadow Club (Par 72, 6,167 yards).

"It's always good to have your best day on your last day," said head coach Renee Slone. "I'm really happy for Swing (Liu) on her career-best finish. Jan (Prapassarangkul) had a strong finish today, and just a very solid tournament. It was good to have both Bing (Singhsumalee) and Tristyn (Nowlin) play solid final rounds as well.

Liu finished in a tie for second place with BYU's Kendra Dalton, with a 71 (-1) in the first round, a 70 (-2) in the second round, and a 73 (+1) in the final round to finish two-under par, a career-best. Prapassarangkul earned a place among the top five as well, tying for fourth with Sirene Blair of San Diego State after recording rounds of 69-75-71 for a 1-under-par finish.

Finishing in a tie for 36th, Grace Park had a first round score of 78 (+6), a second round score of 73 (+1), and a 77(+5) in the final round to finish 12-over-par. Singhsumalee carded rounds of 76-80-73 for a 229 (+13) overall score and a tie for 40th. Nowlin carded a 78 (+6) in each of the first two rounds, and shot a 74 (+2) in the final round to finish in a tie for 45th at 230 (+14).

San Diego State won the tournament with a score of 870 (+6). BYU placed second with a 874 (+10), followed by Illinois, California (+18), Michigan (+24), San Joes State (+27), Pepperdine (+32), Coastal Carolina (+33), Oregon State (+38), UC Davis (+46), Nevada (+52), and San Francisco (+58) and Colorado State (+58) finished in a tie for 12th. San Jose State's My Leander was the individual winner, with a 211 (-5).

"It was a competitive field," Slone said. "Everybody was fighting tooth and nail. It was good that we put ourselves in that final group today, and it was definitely a positive tournament for us. But we know, as is the case with every tournament, that shots were left out there. There are some things we can clean up, but definitely a solid second tournament to the spring season."
