Seniors headed to all-star game to showcase talents for scouts
Two Illinois football players have accepted invitations to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl – DE/LB James Crawford and CB Jaylen Dunlap – to be played January 20, 2018 at the Rose Bowl. The game, and workouts leading up to it, are used as a scouting tool for NFL teams and other professional football leagues.

Practices begin on Jan. 14, with the game scheduled for Jan. 20, 2017 at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles.
DE/LB James Crawford » The 6-2, 235 pound senior played three different positions during his Illini career – safety, linebacker and defensive end. As a pass rusher in 2017, Crawford led the team with 5.5 TFLs, 4.0 sacks, 4 QB hurries, 3 forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries while also adding 4 PBUs and 26 tackles, all in conference play, during his first full season as a defensive end. His average of 0.33 FF per game led the Big Ten ranked seventh in FBS at the end of the regular season.
DB Jaylen Dunlap » A 6-1, 190 pound cover corner, Dunlap made 29 tackles and had a team-high five PBUs to go along with one interception and a half-TFL during his senior season. He finished his Illini career with 124 tackles, 6.0 TFLs, 18 PBUs, one blocked kick and an interception. His 11 PBUs in 2016 tied for the 10th most in an Illini single season.
