CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -Ā For the final tournament of the 2017 fall season, the Illinois women's golf team will head to the first ever Ladies Fall Intercollegiate Invitational in Johns Creek, Georgia.
"Given that we just returned home Sunday night, preparation has been a bit more focused on recovery," head coach Renee Slone said.Ā "The team had Monday off to focus on academics and personal issues. We will have a team meeting and a short game practice session focusing on putting and chipping to get ready for the weekend."
The first ever Ladies Fall Intercollegiate Invitational, which is hosted by the University of Louisville, will be played at the Atlanta Athletic Club Highlands Golf Course (par 72, 6,210 yards). The invitational is 54-holes, and will consist of three 18-hole rounds, one each day from Oct. 27-29.
Making the trip for the Orange and Blue will be Tristyn Nowlin, Bing Singhsumalee, Chayanid Prapassarangkul, Grace Park and Ali Morallos.
With the Illini checking in at No. 15, six of the participating teams are currently ranked in Golfstat's top 75, including No. 33 Louisville, No. 41 East Carolina, No. 52 Kennesaw State, No. 69 Coastal Carolina and No. 72 Iowa. Rounding out the field are Indiana, Augusta, Georgia, Minnesota, Georgia State and Dartmouth.
"Since this is the last event for us this fall, I am looking for the team to have continued positivity, high energy and confidence in themselves and teammates," Slone said. "We need to remain focused on our process and on what we can control."
