Incoming Illini freshman, Kelly Maday, has been named Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year. Maday, a 5-foot-6 forward who attends New Trier High School in Winnetka, Ill., is not only active in the school's soccer program, but she volunteers at her local homeless shelter and as a youth soccer coach. Maday is a junior board member of Misericordia also, which is a home for people with developmental and physical abilities.
The Gatorade State Girls Soccer Players of the Year were selected based not only on athletic production for the 2015-16 season, but also on academic achievement and exemplary personal character.
Maday has helped to lead the New Trier Trevians to a 20-3-1 record this season, and is set to compete in the Class 3A New Trier Regional Semifinals next weekend. She will look to lead the Trevians to another state championship title. She's netted 13 goals and tallied 13 assists on the year, accumulating 65 goals and 65 assists so far in her career. Maday is a two-time Class 3A All-State selection, and was a 2015 Gatorade Player of the Year finalist. She has been named New Trier's High School Player of the Year twice in her career.
