CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois soccer (9-2-1, 2-2-1 B1G) lost its first home match of the season to No. Ohio State (5-1-5, 1-0-4 B1G), 3-0, on Sunday (Sept. 28) in Demirjian Park.
Not much went the way the Orange and Blue had hoped as Ohio State scored three unanswered goals all in the second half. The Buckeyes Ava Bramblett scored the first two goals to record a brace, and Elle Britt added the third.
The best chance for Illinois came on their very first shot of the game in the sixth minute as Sarah Foley's shot was dribbling towards the goal line before the OSU keeper desperately was able to punch it away.
Izzy Lee recorded six saves today as Illinois was outshot 11-9 by Ohio State. They also doubled up the Illini in shots on goal with nine compared to Illinois' four. Today's attendance was 1,158.
The Fighting Illini head back out on the road on road on Sunday (Oct. 5) to take on Maryland at 11 a.m. CT.
