CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Due to inclement Midwest weather, the Fighting Illini swimmers were forced to adjust their winter training trip travel plans. After numerous fight delays and a canceled flight altogether, the team members accompanied by head coach Sue Novitsky and assistant coach Alec Hayden finally arrived in Coronado, California.

Coach Novitsky shared that "The team still made the most of their time and took advantage of the great location for some solid training and competition".

The Illini swimmers trained at the Brian Bent Memorial Aquatic Complex. Most days the team saw four hours of action in the pool as well as an hour of weight lifting. On Jan. 5, the Orange and Blue competed in an exhibition relay meet against Williamette University.

"It was great to still be able to complete a portion of our scheduled trip," Coach Novitsky said. "The team was working very hard in the pool and the location made everything very easy. It was a good block of training and we are looking forward to the second half of our season."
