CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – When the U.S. Track and Cross Country Coaches Association released its All-Academic List, the Orange & Blue were well represented with Bryce Basting, Ben Dodds, Cole Henderson, Dylan Lafond, Mitch Mammoser, Liam Markham, Brandon Stryganek, Jannis Toepfer, Maurice Watkins, and Jonathan Wells earning honors. Of the ten Illini named, two were freshmen, four juniors, and four seniors.
To qualify for the honor, track and field athletes must finish the season with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, and have either finished the indoor season ranked in the national top-96 in an individual event, finished in the top-48 in a relay event and/or have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships.
- Basting (advertising) took fifth place in the mile at the Big Ten Indoor Championship meet.
- Dodds (accountancy) won three javelin event titles and qualified for the NCAA Midwest Regional meet
- Henderson (undecided) qualified for Big Tens in the 60m at the indoor meet and the 100m during the outdoor season.
- Lafond (recreation, sport, and tourism) earned two top-five finishes at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships
- Mammoser (management) finished in the top-15 during the indoor season and fifth at the outdoor meet in the pole vault
- Markham (accountancy) finished in the top-15 in the mile at Big Ten Indoor Championships.
- Stryganek (recreation, sport, and tourism) was one of the Fighting Illini's most talented athletes in 2015 as he took the gold in the 100m and bronze in the 200m at the outdoor Big Ten Championships.
- Toepfer (technology management) qualified for the Big Ten indoor meet in 5,000m, 10,000m and 3,000m steeplechase during the season.
- Watkins (finance) ran in the 60m, 200m, and 400m throughout the season and competed at the Big Ten Indoor Championships in the 60m.
- Wells (management) took home four top-five Big Ten Championships finishes over the course of the year, two at indoors and two at outdoors.
The team as a whole was honored for compiling a team grade point average of 3.28 for the season.
